How to get to Arisia (Cambridge Hyatt) by Car - Truck - Airplane - Train/Bus - Bicycle and Shuttle Bus.

And once you get there, parking info

By Car

From the West

Take the Mass Pike (I-90) to Exit 18
Go towards Cambridge (cross the river)
Turn right after crossing the river onto Memorial Drive.
Go about a mile along Memorial Drive.
Turn left at Hyatt (traffic light) onto Amesbury St.

From the North

Take I-93 to Exit 26.
When off-ramp goes back to being two lanes, get in left lane.
Immediately after underpass, take ramp in left lane.
At stop sign, turn right and go over bridge.
Just before the end of the bridge, turn right (this is a difficult turn).
Immediately turn right again and follow Memorial Drive along the river.
Go under Massachusetts Avenue.
Turn right at traffic light at Hyatt onto Amesbury Street.

It's about 1.5 miles from crossing the river to the hotel.
If you look at a map, from I-93 to the hotel, you're following Rt. 3.

If you are traveling by truck...

... you need to follow the Truck Route directions. Following the above car directions in a truck will (at best) result in a ticket, or (at worst) result in your photo on the front page of the local paper with an article about how another out-of-town truck driver got stuck under an overpass.

From Logan Airport

The Hyatt Cambridge provides driving directions from Logan Airport.

If you're arriving by plane, you can take the Silver Line bus from Logan Airport to South Station and then change (free transfer) to the Red Line subway (direction "Alewife") to Kendall Square (Cambridge) and then take the free shuttle bus to the hotel.

You can read about other transportation options at the airport's web site. Which includes: shared van and taxi.

From T.F. Green in Providence

You can take a bus or taxi from the T.F. Green Airport to the MBTA Commuter Rail Station in Providence, and then take the train to South Station in Boston and follow the directions below.

By train or bus

Take Amtrak or a bus to South Station, and then take the Red line subway (direction "Alewife") from South Station to Kendall Square (Cambridge).  From there, take the free shuttle bus to the hotel.

From North Station (Commuter Rail) cross the street to the subway station and take the Orange Line to the Downtown Crossing or take the Green Line to Park Street (grab which ever train arrives first at North Station). And then change to the Red Line subway (direction "Alewife") to Kendall Square (Cambridge) and then take the free shuttle bus to the hotel.

For more information about public transit in Boston, please visit the MBTA website.

To save time, you can buy a T-pass (CharlieCard) online from the MBTA (free shipping). The cheapest card you can buy is $5. Which means that if you use it to travel from the airport (or South Station) to the hotel and back, you're paying $1 more than if you stood in line at the station, and bought fares (you can add additional money to your CharlieCard at any station).

You'll need one card per person. Please allow two weeks for the card to arrive.

By bicycle

If you're crazybrave enough to bicycle to the hotel, there are covered bicycle racks on the first level of the garage.

Shuttle Bus

We'll have two shuttle bus routes. The main shuttle (55 seat coach) will run continuously between the Kendall Square T station (Marriott hotel) and the Hyatt hotel.

  • Friday: Noon until 3am
  • Saturday: 8am until 3am
  • Sunday: 8am until 6:30pm

During lunch and dinner we'll provide a smaller shuttle bus between the Hyatt hotel and Central Square (except Saturday dinner 5-10pm when we'll have a large bus).

For more details about both shuttle routes, please see shuttle schedule page.

Parking

We arranged discounted parking rates for our attendees with the Hyatt. Self parking is available for $7 per night or $5 per non-overnight day, and valet parking is available at the Hyatt for $20 per night.

In each case, parking is with unlimited in/out privileges. If you're staying at the hotel, they'll give you a pass for the free in/out privileges. If you're a "day" visitor, it's more complicated. But please remember, free in/out privileges does not guarantee a parking space when you return.

The height limit of the Hyatt's garage is 6' 5". If you have a vehicle that's a bit larger than than, you can ask the garage attendant for assistance. You might be able to park taller vehicles on the first level of the garage.

Parking at the Marriott is expensive and you may wish to park at a remote MBTA lot or one of the MIT lots if you are staying there.

Free parking is available after 3pm Friday (and until 7am Tuesday) in MIT's West Garage on Vassar St between Massachusetts Avenue and the Hyatt hotel, about 1km (0.5 mile) away, and the shuttle bus will stop at the garage every 15 minutes from 9am to 3am (Sunday 6:30pm). Unless a snow emergency is expected, there will also be ample free parking in most other MIT lots and along Vassar St closer to the Hyatt hotel and a lot near the Marriott hotel on Main St, near Vassar St.

If you staying at the Marriott and traveling to Arisia by public transit, the Marriott is next to the Kendall Square subway station, where the Arisia hotel shuttle stops

Driving directions and a map can be found at the Marriott website

Please note, a block from the Marriott Cambridge is a Marriott Residence Inn. This is NOT the overflow hotel.
