Woman dancing in the atrium around midnight on Saturday

A bunch of us were waiting for the dance to open Saturday night and all of a sudden, there was this delightfully graceful woman dancing with weighted silk/fabric "fans" in the atrium. She so impressed those of us watching (including those looking over the balconies) that she was asked to do an encore.

She did and was joined in by someone (I saw her LJ name but I don't remember who it was) who played the recorder.

It was a beautiful sight to see. I think the recorder drew more people to the balconies because, when she finished, there were a *lot* of people watching and applauding.

Her movements reminded me of watching the fire spinners at a party this summer.

Anyway, I hope she attends again next year and that she dances again.

Dirk Gentry at Arisia

Now that the convention is over, the hotel is putting the their furniture back where it normally is located. Looking over the balcony into the atrium, I saw two of the hotel's employees carrying a couch from the Crows Nest on the third floor down to the second floor. Many people found those stairs made them nervous, I wouldn't recommend carrying a couch.

Later on I saw that they were taking the long way around the atrium, and then using the elevator to move furniture down to the second floor.

Sometimes the shortest route is not the fastest.
